Vas’s professional journey began in banking in Sydney, Australia, where her passion for developing people led her into HR. She quickly rose through the ranks gaining exposure to talent planning, organizational transformation and leadership development.
Her transition into the pharmaceutical industry provided her with global HR experience, leading to an international move to the U.S. in 2002. Just two months into her new role, her company was acquired, forcing her to navigate uncertainty, career shifts, and rapid change.
Her resilience and expertise helped her secure her first Vice President role within two years, where she specialized in talent development, succession planning, and leadership transformation. Over time, she led global HR teams across multiple industries, driving initiatives that put people at the heart of organizational success.
Her experience as CHRO of a Fortune 500 company was the pinnacle of her corporate career. However, her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for creativity led her to explore new ventures—including an interior design business. When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted her plans, she returned to her HR roots, launching Vas Nair Leadership Consulting and co-creating Giraffe.
“Sometimes I wish I’d started this earlier in my career,” Vas admits. “But I wouldn’t love what I do today if I hadn’t gone through the experiences I’ve had.”
